Heavy Police Investigation in Downtown Glenview Overnight Tuesday.

GLENVIEW, Ill. — A significant police operation involving nearly 40 officers from the Cook County Sheriff’s Department and the Glenview Police Department concluded early Wednesday morning after a seven-hour standoff at a condominium building in downtown Glenview.

The investigation by the Cook County Sheriff's office which is highly unusual for downtown Glenview according to officials, began at approximately 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at 1750 Henley Street, a building directly across from Busey Bank. The Glenview Police Department issued a community alert via social media at that time, urging residents to avoid the vicinity.
According to eyewitness accounts and police activity, the operation began when Cook County Sheriff’s investigators, assisted by Glenview officers, attempted to gain entry to a specific condominium. An individual inside the unit refused them access.
In response, police established a secure perimeter, taping off the area and positioning a strong contingent of officers at both the front and back entrances. For several hours, officers were seen wearing tactical helmets and holding shields, maintaining a fortified position.
At around 11:00 p.m., the Glenview Police Department scaled back its involvement, and the Cook County Sheriff’s Department brought in additional personnel to maintain the scene.
The logjam broke at 1:00 a.m. Wednesday when another resident of the condominium arrived home and granted investigators access through a back door. A subsequent one-hour search of the unit was conducted.
The operation concluded at 2:00 a.m. Sheriff’s investigators were seen removing six bags of evidence from the residence.
The nature of the investigation remains undisclosed, as officials have not yet released details regarding what prompted the large-scale operation. A request for further information has been filed through the Freedom of Information Act.
