Lane Reductions To Continue On Central Road Over Memorial Day Weekend
While some lanes closed for construction will reopen in Illinois, IDOT said the Glenview road over the Des Plaines River will not.
GLENVIEW, IL — While Memorial Day travelers will see some travel relief throughout the state, motorists on Central Road over the Des Plaines River in Glenview will not. Lane reductions will continue, with traffic controlled by temporary signals, during the holiday weekend.
The Illinois Department of Transportation announced Thursday that lanes that have been closed for construction will reopen, where possible, for the Memorial Day weekend to minimize travel disruption. Non-emergency closures will be suspended from 3 p.m. Friday, through 11:59 p.m. Monday.
Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through areas where construction continues, according to IDOT. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and stay alert for workers and equipment. At all times, the IDOT asks motorists to buckle up and drive sober.
