Memory Care Seniors Bid Farewell to Dog Days of Summer

Emerald Place residents celebrated the end of summer by baking dog treats for shelter pets.

While much of the nation is powering through the final, sultry days of summer, a local memory care community found a way to beat the heat. Residents at Emerald Place, an Anthem Memory Care community in Glenview, celebrated the end of the dog days of summer by delivering handmade treats to Orphans of the Storm animal shelter in Deerfield, Illinois.

“This is a fun way to take our minds off the heat and reminisce about summers past,” said Jaime Vahhaji, life engagement director for Emerald Place. “Many of our residents are lifelong animal lovers and creating doggie treat bags makes them feel productive. This gives them a chance to continue to make a difference to others.”

Emerald Place is located at 1879 Chestnut Ave., Glenview, Illinois.
