Fire Sends 1 To Hospital, Displaces 2 Families And Pets

The fire damaged two homes and a shed at 1330 N. Williams Avenue early Thursday, fire officials said.

ROUND LAKE BEACH, IL β€” One person was injured and two families and several pets have been displaced following a fire in Round Lake Beach early Thursday.

The Greater Round Lake Fire Protection District was called to a blaze at 1330 N. Williams Avenue at about 3:25 a.m. and found a shed fully engulfed in flames, according to a news release from the fire protection district. Two nearby homes were also on fire, fire officials said.

While at the scene, fire crews evacuated the homes. One person inside was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in good condition, according to the news release.

Both homes sustained significant fire, smoke and water damage and are currently uninhabitable. Several pets were also displaced following the fire but were not hurt in the blaze, fire officials said.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
