The roundup also highlights strong showings by several other Illinois high school basketball and wrestling programs across multiple tournaments.
   

• Firefighters rescue dog after home's chimney engulfed in flames, leaving family displaced in Gurnee (lakemchenryscanner.com) — Grayslake firefighters were among several departments called to help battle a chimney fire that spread through a Gurnee townhouse, displacing a mother and daughter but sparing their dog. Crews contained the blaze to one unit, declared the home uninhabitable pending repairs, and reminded residents to closely monitor fireplaces and other heating sources during cold weather.
