County Board, 10th District Candidates At Forum in Grayslake

Candidates can share their views in their own words during a sustainability forum at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 24 at the Byron Colby Barn. It is presented by Incinerator-Free Lake County.

Voters have opportunities to meet and hear from current elected officials who are running for re-election during twoΒ environmental/sustainability round tables this Friday.

The first one willΒ showcase local elected officials in the Grayslake area; the second features candidatesΒ for the newly redistrictedΒ IllinoisΒ 10th Congressional District including Ilya Sheyman, John TreeΒ and a representative from Brad SchneiderΚΌs campaign.

This event is open to the public and is a fundraiser forΒ Incinerator-FreeΒ LakeΒ County and their newly formed non-profit, Midwest Sustainability Group.

The forum will be atΒ 7:30-10 p.m. Feb. 24.Β at the Byron Colby Barn in the Prairie Crossing subdivision,Β 1561 Jones Point Road,Β Grayslake.Β

The event will also feature presentations regarding the proposed Route 53 extension.Β Guest presenters are Mike Sands, who has been appointed by the Blue RibbonΒ Panel to oversee the environmental concerns of a proposed Route 53 extension andΒ Evan Craig of the Sierra Club Woods & Wetlands Group. Both will speak about theΒ environmental issues surrounding a proposed Route 53 extension and what can be doneΒ about them, if anything.
