A Community Event: Rachel’s Challenge Comes To GNHS
Presentation on Oct. 17 aims to inspire students and community members to start a chain reaction of kindness.
Rachel's Challenge is an international organization dedicated to the legacy of Rachel Joy Scott, who was one of the victims of the Columbine High School shooting in 1999.
On Monday, Oct. 17, you are invited to join Grayslake North High School in hearing an incredible story of courage and hope. All area parents, community leaders, business leaders, students of all area schools, neighbors and friends of GNHS are invited to attend a presentation and discussion led by Rachel’s Challenge with the goal of starting a chain reaction of kindness at our school and in our community.
After Rachel Scott's death, her parents sought to honor her memory by encouraging others to live as Rachel did, with kindness, compassion, and dreams to touch the lives of others in a positive way.

Through Rachel's Challenge, students will be asked during an all school assembly today to accept five challenges through the coming months. These challenges include:
- Looking for the best in others
- Daring to dream big
- Seeking positive influences
- Engaging in small acts of kindness
- Starting your own chain reaction to leave a legacy of compassion
The purpose of the evening community event is to offer the opportunity for members of the community to experience the powerful presentation and support our students as they embrace these challenges. Join us for this presentation with a following discussion about how we can support students as they carry the message forward into their daily lives.
