Firefighters Battle Home Blaze
A Grayslake house fire on Wednesday caused significant damages but no injuries. The fire was reported by neighbors and a local postman.
Firefighters battled flames out of the rear of a home Wednesday, which caused significant damage to the home, according to fire officials.
"The home in the 200 block of Harvey Avenue received heavy fire damage to the rear of the home," said Grayslake Dept. Fire Chief Greg Formica. "When firefiighters arrived, there was heavy fire coming from out of the back of the home."
He said the homeowner of the single-story, single family house was not home at the time of the fire at 11:40 a.m. Sept. 14, and no injures were reported.

"The fire started outside on the deck and spread to the interior of the home," Formica said. "There were significant damages to the home."
Both the cause of the fire and the extent of the damages is currently unknown, he said.

Neighbors and a local postman noticed the flames and called 911.
The Grayslake Fire Department issued a MABAS box alarm, and responded with assistance from fire departments in Round Lake, Lake Villa, Gurnee, Fox Lake, Libertyville, Mundelein, Waukegan and Countryside.
