Grayslake North Students Honor Veterans

GNHS students go the extra mile to recognize veterans, including filming a video in which they interview local veterans and students about what Veterans Day means to them.

Public Service Practicum (PSP) students at Grayslake North High School recognized local veterans this month in a few ways.

They organized a veterans lunch, assisted Grayslake VFW Post 2245 in collecting donations for hospitalized veterans during their annual Poppy Drive and created a video honoring veterans.

"The students just had such a nice experience," said Emily Weiss, PSP teacher, noting the invitation for the students to help with the VFW Poppy Drive was the result of the veterans lunch the students organized.

"They wanted to share a meal and engage in meaningful conversation with local veterans, so they organized a lunch during class. Also a result of the lunch, students used footage from the interviews they conducted in their video."

All students at GNHS viewed the video Wednesday morning.
