Moderate to Heavy Snow and Sleet Likely for Monday Morning Commute

Leave early this morning if you can.

A weather disturbance is expected to induce a quick-moving band of wintry precipitation Monday morning, reports the National Weather Service. The wintry mix will move across northern Illinois and northwest Indiana early Monday. Current indications suggest this band of precipitation could begin as mix of sleet and maybe freezing rain just prior to onset before quickly changing over to mainly snow and sleet.

A moderate or heavy rate of snowfall could result in rapid snow accumulations up to a slushy inch, making travel hazardous during the morning commute. Leave extra time to reach your destination Monday morning.
