Pedestrian Killed In Hit-And-Run Collision
A 24-year-old Island Lake man was killed after being hit by a vehicle in Island Lake Friday night.
MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — One person is dead after being hit by a vehicle in a hit-and run collision Friday night near Island Lake, authorities said.
The 24-year-old man was hit by the vehicle in the 4300 block of Roberts Road in unincorporated Island Lake at about 10:50 p.m. Friday, according to a news release from the Lake County Coroner's Office. The man, who was later identified as Austin Stanek of Island Lake, was taken to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital where he was pronounced dead in the emergency room.
An autopsy shows Stanek died from blunt force injuries as a result of a crash, according to the Lake County Coroner's Office.

The cause of the crash crash remains under investigation by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office. Anyone with information is asked to call the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office at 815-338-2144.
