Grayslake North Lacrosse Wins 14-5 Over Naperville Central
Matt Schlagetter scored 5 goals and 3 assists as part of an offensive blowout over Naperville Central.
Grayslake North advanced to the State Semi-Finals in the Class B Lacrosse Cup Series with a 14-5 win over Naperville Central.
The Knights were led by University of Alabama-bound Matt Schlagetter with 5 goals and 3 assists for a total of 8 points on the day, said Head Coach Brad Fish.
"Schlaggie, as he is called by his teammates wasΒ all over the fieldΒ and also had 9 ground balls on the night," Fish said in an e-mail recap. "AJ Fish finished with 6 points, on 3 goals and 3 assists. Brendan Walker added 3 goals and an assist. Rounding out the scoring for the Knights were Eric Palade, David Collins, and Jack Mattea with a 1 goal apiece."

The defensive effort from the Knights was stellar all night behind Bryce Hermsen, Josh Kortenkamp, and Goalie Eric York, with 8 saves on the night.Β Β
Not to be outdone was Nick Stanfel, the Senior Face off specialist for the Knights.

"He has been a bright spot for the Knights in this his senior year, trading in his baseball glove for a lacrosse stick," Fish stated. "He controlled 15 of 22 and kept the Knights in possession of the ball when it mattered most."
Next up for the Knights is the Sandburg Chiefs. On the line is a trip back to the Class B State Championship Game Saturday in Palatine. The Knights lost to Waubonsie Valley a year ago in the finale.
Grayslake North will host Sandburg at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 31.
