Waukegan Man Sentenced In 2018 Fatal Overdose Of McHenry Man

Rashon Davis, 30, was convicted of attempted delivery of a controlled substance, according to the McHenry County State's Attorney.

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL—A judge sentenced a Waukegan man to four years in prison this week for his role in the 2018 fatal overdose of a McHenry man, according to McHenry County State’s Attorney Patrick D. Kenneally.

In December, Rashon Davis, 30, pleaded guilty to attempted delivery of a controlled substance. The Northwest Herald reported that had Davis gone to trial on the single charge of attempted delivery, he could have faced between five and 10 years in prison because of his criminal history.

According to prosecutors, on Aug. 26, 2018, Alan Lippert, the victim, was discovered to have overdosed on heroin and fentanyl supplied to him during a drug transaction.

An investigation led officers to Davis, who prosecutors said had contact with Lippert’s girlfriend during the time period of the alleged transaction.

In the courtroom, the newspaper reported that Davis apologized to Lippert’s parents. He said he is “not a bad person … not a street thug.”
