Woodland To Host Dual Language Meeting Dec. 1

Parents can view a movie about the benefits of having their children learn a second language during a District 50 meeting.

Woodland Community Consolidated School District 50 will host its second informational meeting regarding its future dual language program.

Parents and children are invited to attend the meetingΒ at 6:30 p.m., Dec. 1 at . The dual language program is scheduled to begin in August 2012.

The meeting will feature the screening of the film, "Speaking in Tongues," for the parents. Children who attend will be able to view "Cars 2" in a different location.Β Β

According to the website,Β http://speakingintonguesfilm.info, "Speaking in Tongues" follows four diverse children as they become bilingual.

"The video, "Speaking in Tongues" will give parents a better understanding of what a dual language classroom looks like and the long term benefits of the program," said English Language Learner Coordinator Valerie Morey. "After the video, there will be time for a discussion."
