Armored Truck Robbed At Gunpoint In Homewood: Police

A man with a gun and an accomplice robbed an armored truck at gunpoint Tuesday morning, police said.

HOMEWOOD, IL — A driver is being treated for a minor injury and police are investigating after an armored truck was robbed at gunpoint Tuesday morning in Homewood, police said.

Just after 9:30 a.m., two men approached the driver of an armored truck outside Jewel-Osco in the 3100 block of 183rd Sreet, and demanded money. One was armed with a handgun and struck the driver with the gun, Homewood police said. The men made off with an unknown amount of cash, and fled westbound in an unknown vehicle, police said.

The driver is being treated for a minor injury, police said.

The Homewood Police Department Criminal Investigations Unit is assisting Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) with the investigation.
