She’s been at the helm of the movement against Bob Shahwam, a man who owns a controversial, "eyesore" property at 749 Elm Street—next door to cooper’s house. "I'd rather have an empty lot with grass kept clean and mowed than this," she said. "The owner can sell the land or choose to build a home on it. What hurts right now is this house sitting here in its current condition." She’s been going to village board meetings for a year now in attempt to help get the home demolished but, as of now, no serious action has yet been taken.
