Homewood Man, 25, Killed In Explosion At Lemont Petroleum Plant

LEMONT, IL — A Homewood man was killed in an explosion Tuesday morning at a petroleum plant in Lemont, according to the Will County Coroner.

Dru A. Worker, 25, died in the incident at Seneca Petroleum, 12460 New Ave., just after 11 a.m. Tuesday.

The explosion may have occurred in an asphalt tank, the sheriff's office said in a news release, adding that fire officials do not believe there are any hazardous materials involved in the incident.

A second person was injured in the blast and taken to Silver Cross Hospital, officials said.

An autopsy for Worker has been scheduled for April 26, according to the Will County Coroner's office. Final cause and manner of death are pending.
