Homewood Man Tells Police He Has a Joint in His Pants: Blotter
Homewood police reports, March 26–28.

THURSDAY, MARCH 28
Is That A Joint In Your Pants?
Lucien Coffey, 34, of the 800 block of Elder in Homewood, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana, driving with a suspended license, driving without insurance and driving without a rear license plate light, according to a report. Coffey was stopped at about 12:35 a.m. near 1243 Hillview Road. Police said they arrested Coffey for safety reasons after he immediately got of his car when stopped. An officer reported smelling marijuana. When asked about drugs by police, Coffey told police he had a "joint" in his pants. He is due in Markham court on April 16.

Bridge Vandalized
Five boards were removed from the railing on the red bridge in Butterfield Park, 1120 Center Ct., and thrown into a creek, according to a report. The estimated cost to repair the bridge is $100.
"Hero" Cell Phone Snatched
Rick Grant, 25, of the 6300 block of Claremont in Chicago, was charged with retail theft, according to a report. He is accused of a HTC "Hero" cell phone, valued at $349.99, at about 11:20 a.m. from U.S Cellular, 17741 Halsted St. A store employee told police Grant was seen cutting the cord attached to the phone and running out of the store without paying.

TUESDAY, MARCH 26
Heroin And Stolen Registration
Marcus Jordan, 45, of the 22400 block of Clyde in Sauk Village, was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of a stolen registration sticker and driving with expired registration, according to a report. Police stopped a vehicle at about 5:58 p.m. in the 17700 block of Dixie Highway for speeding. Police found 0.7 grams of heroin in Jordan's possession. Straws used to ingest drugs and a stolen registration sticker also were found.
