Armed Robbery At Subway Restaurant On Essington Road: Joliet Police

The suspect was wearing all black clothing, black ski mask, black shoes and armed with a handgun, Joliet police announced.

JOLIET — Customers and workers at the Joliet Subway restaurant on Essington Road were robbed at gunpoint on Sunday night.

According to the Joliet police press release of the crime, Joliet Police were called to the 1000 block of Essington Road for a robbery.

At about 8:30 p.m. Joliet officers responded and spoke with one of the victims, a 41-year-old Chicagoan, who was a customer in the business. The victim told the officers they were standing in line when the armed robber took money from them.

A second victim, a 44-year-old Crest Hill employee at Subway, said the robber walked up to them while at the cashier. The robber displayed a handgun and demanded money. The victim turned over the money from the cashier to the suspect. The criminal then fled the area.
