Attempted Murder Arrest In Joliet After Fight At Busy Intersection: Joliet Police
The officers responded to the area of Cass Street and Eastern Avenue for a stabbing that occurred near the intersection.

JOLIET — Joliet police have put a 32-year-old from Plainfield in the Will County Jail after a 59-year-old man was stabbed at least 10 times Saturday afternoon, according to officials. Joliet police said Dejon Weems is facing attempted murder charges.
According to the details released from Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English, at 4:26 p.m., officers responded to the area of Cass Street and Eastern Avenue for a stabbing near the intersection. The officers found a 59-year-old victim who was stabbed multiple times. Police believe Weems stabbed the victim multiple times during a fight near the intersection, English said.
According to police, Weems ran from the scene following the stabbing but was found and arrested near the 200 block of Benton Street following a brief foot pursuit. Officers who searched Weems recovered a small sword like blade as well as a pocketknife, English said.

Joliet Fire Department paramedics took the victim to St Joseph Medical Center, where he was listed in critical but stable condition.
Although Joliet police say Weems, 32, is from Plainfield, the jail logs listed him as being from the 300 block of Joliet's Herkimer Street, which is close to the site of the stabbing.

Weems also spent time in the Will County Jail in 2023 and 2022, according to jail records.
