Ax-Wielding Ex-Con Attacks Deputies: Cops
The Shorewood ex-convict has done this kind of thing before.

Michael Scott Carey, 51, “had been drinking and was very upset about possibly going back to prison” before the deputies and an agent from the Illinois Department of Corrections showed up at his Woodridge Way home Monday afternoon, police said.
Carey is on parole and the agent had a warrant for his arrest.
The cops reportedly found Carey asleep in his bedroom. When they woke him up to let him know he was heading to jail, Carey “jumped up in an aggressive stance, grabbed a throwing ax, and attempted to strike the deputies,” police said.
“Carey remained very aggressive and combative and also attempted to grab a pocket knife that was on a nightstand,” police said.
The deputies subdued Carey. He suffered minor injuries in his struggle with the law and was taken to Presence St. Joseph Medical Center, police said. From there, he went to the Will County jail.
One deputy was treated at St. Joseph’s for injuries to his hand, forearm and shoulder.
Carey just got out of prison three months ago. He did two and a half years for attacking police officers.
In February 2012, Carey tangled with cops who responded to 911 hangup calls from his house. Seven months before that, he stabbed a deputy’s shoe.
