Standoff In Joliet Resolved Peacefully: Police

Police had a several-block perimeter blocked off Thursday afternoon. One person was taken into custody.

JOLIET, IL — The Joliet Police SWAT unit responded to a report of a possibly armed, barricaded subject in the 500 block of Irving Street near Youngs Avenue Thursday afternoon, and the situation was resolved peacefully after a more than hour-long standoff.

One person surrendered and was taken into custody.

Several Joliet fire department ambulances were on standby nearby during the incident. Police had a several-block perimeter blocked off Thursday afternoon.
