“The goal of this annual event is twofold – it promotes literacy and keeps thousands of books out of our landfill," said Will County Executive Larry Walsh.

“Each of those purposes is valuable on its own, but together it is an extra boon to Will County," Walsh said. "And, to top it off, the event is free to both those who want books and those who wish to donate books.”

Schools, libraries and members of the general public can bring unwanted books to the event for reuse and recycling, as well.

All genres of hardcover and paperback books will be accepted for reuse and recycling. Categories include fiction, non-fiction, children’s, romance, hobby, travel, health and living, religion, textbooks, cookbooks and periodicals. Magazines also will be collected and shared.

Books that are not taken will be recycled at the three-day event’s conclusion.
