He caught his wife in a car with the gunman when she was supposed to be out walking the dog, police said.

JOLIET, IL — A Joliet man caught his wife in a car with another guy when she was supposed to be out walking the dog, then got chased by the cheater, who ended up pulling a gun on him, police said.

The 48-year-old wife left to walk the dog Wednesday night but when she was gone for a full two hours, her 50-year-old husband got suspicious enough to go looking for her, police said.

The husband got in his car and drove around trying to find his wife, police said, and managed to track her down on Old Kent Drive — but wasn’t too happy with what he happened upon.

The wife was in the car of 61-year-old Mark Clayton and the husband was apparently displeased about it, police said, as he and Clayton had words.

The husband reportedly got back in his car and headed home and Clayton followed after him. During the ensuing confrontation, Clayton pulled a .45-caliber pistol and racked the slide, police said.

The husband then reportedly told Clayton he was calling the cops, prompting Clayton to take off. Clayton was later apprehended in New Lenox, police said, and taken to the Will County jail. When he was arrested, Clayton was still carrying the black Bersa .45 he allegedly pulled on the husband, police said.
