Dead Dogs Land Joliet Man in County Jail

The jailed man lives at the supposedly vacant house, according to county records.

JOLIET, IL — The discovery of a half dozen dead dogs, as well as six live ones and a cat, led to a Joliet man’s arrest Monday.

Humberto Rodriguez, 62, was jailed on two felony counts of aggravated cruelty to animals.

Rodriguez lives at the house on Third Avenue that is supposedly vacant and had been tagged for demolition, according to jail records.

The inspector who tagged the house heard dogs inside, police said, leading to the horrifying discovery.
