Coroner ID's Man Killed In Joliet Township Fire

A 54-year-old Joliet Township man was killed.

JOLIET — The Will County Coroner's Office identified the man found dead after a Joliet Township fire as 54-year-old Leonard Young.

The East Joliet Fire Protection District responded to the house fire in the 500 block of Pontiac Street.

According to ABC Chicago, firefighters found the house fully engulfed in flames around 4:30 p.m. and took about an hour to extinguish the fire. Later, Young's body was found on the first floor of the house, ABC said.

Will County Sheriff's officials are working with the State Fire Marshal's Office on the investigation.

Also, East Joliet Fire Chief Kirk Kelly issued the following press release on Thursday regarding the Wednesday afternoon house fire, saying the person succumbed to the fire:
