JOLIET — Andre Ross, a 36-year-old Joliet resident who is no stranger to the Joliet police force, is back in the Will County Jail following Sunday night's arrest in the 1700 block of Campbell Street. Joliet police charged Ross with criminal trespass, four counts of obstructing a peace officer, four counts of resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and obstructing justice.

Ross also spent time in the Will County Jail last year, as well as in 2020 and 2021.

At 10:12 p.m., officers responded to an apartment in the 1700 block of Campbell Street for an unknown male trying to enter an occupied apartment. A description of the suspect was provided to responding officers, indicating the man may have been armed with a handgun.

Upon arrival, the officers found a man matching the suspect description standing outside the apartment. As the officers tried to detain the man, later identified as Ross, he broke free and began to resist by not offering access to his wrists, English said.

As more officers arrived, Ross was placed into custody without further incident. Ross was not found to be in possession of any weapon, according to police.

"It was learned that Ross began knocking at the door of an apartment occupied by an adult male and his juvenile son. Ross began yelling at the apartment and unsuccessfully attempted to open the door. Ross was not known to the occupants of the apartment," English said.

Ross refused to cooperate with booking procedures at the Joliet Police Department, and he was transferred to the Will County Adult Detention Facility, the arrest report noted.

Ross has not been let out of the Will County Jail under the SAFE-T-Act. He still remained in custody on Tuesday.
