Do You Know These 2 Guys The Cops Say Were Seen Hanging Out In The Old Prison When It Caught Fire?

The cops are trying to track these two guys down.

JOLIET, IL — The police say these two guys were seen hanging out in the old Joliet prison on Collins Street when the place caught fire Monday night, and now they want to know who they are.

Anyone with information on the identity of these two is asked to call the police at 815-724-3023. Anonymous tips can be reported to Crimestoppers of Will County by phone at 800-323-6734 or via the Crimestoppers website.

Firefighters were called to the abandoned buildings in the vacant prison just before 8 p.m. to battle heavy flames. The Joliet Correctional Center closed in 2002.

The building was used as a prison dating back to 1858, when it was built with prison labor. In its latter years, the prison was used as a holding facility before inmates were sent to other state prisons. The location also has been used for movies and TV shows, most famously in the opening scene of the 1980 movie "The Blues Brothers" when John Belushi's character, Jake, is released from the slammer.
