JOLIET, IL — An 18-year-old Joliet teen who was getting off his job at the Walmart store on Jefferson Street is fighting to survive after being airlifted to Loyola on Friday night following a crash with a Harley-Davidson motorcycle at West Jefferson Street and Joyce Road.

Joliet police say 60-year-old Wilmington resident Daryl Dunn was arrested and later released on a notice to appear in Will County's Courthouse related to charges of DUI, driving while license revoked and possession of drug paraphernalia.

On Monday, a GoFundMe was established by the family of the victim called "Help Anthony Heal from His Bike Accident." The GoFundMe also contains photos showing the victim in his state of recovery at the hospital at Loyola in Maywood.

"Please, my family needs help. My brother Anthony had a bicycle accident on Friday, May 17, getting off his job at Walmart. He was going home on his bicycle, and a motorcycle and my brother got into an accident. He's at Loyola Hospital. He's only 18 years old and he's going through so much pain and surgery," the GoFundMe announced.

According to Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English, at 10:03 p.m., officers responded to the 100 block of Joyce Road for a crash with injuries. Dunn was driving a Harley-Davidson motorcycle southbound on Joyce Road from West Jefferson Street, and a Freego electric bicycle operated by an 18-year-old Joliet man exited the Walmart parking lot. When the electric bicycle crossed Joyce Road, the electric bike and the motorcycle collided, according to Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English.

The 18-year-old electric bike rider was taken to St. Joseph Medical Center by the Joliet Fire Department and later transferred to Loyola University Hospital with serious injuries.

A female adult passenger on the motorcycle sustained non-life-threatening injuries, and she was also taken to St Joseph Medical Center by the Joliet Fire Department.

Dunn declined medical treatment.

"During the investigation, Dunn admitted to drinking and showed signs of impairment. He was arrested after field sobriety tests and was found to be in possession of a glass narcotics pipe," English said.

Dunn’s driver’s license was revoked at the time of the crash. Dunn was also cited for illegal transportation of alcohol and driving an uninsured motorcycle.

"This crash remains under investigation," English pointed out.
