Drunken Driver Intentionally Ran Down Woman: Cops

A Joliet woman was jailed Sunday in connection with the alleged automobile attack.

JOLIET, IL — A drunken driver allegedly ran down a woman with her car, according to a criminal complaint filed in Will County court.

Sandra Terell, 44, was charged with aggravated battery and aggravated driving under the influence in connection with the alleged May 19 automobile attack. Terrell was arrested and booked into the Will County jail Sunday afternoon.

Terrell’s bond was set at $5,000. She needs to post only $500 for her release.

Not only was Terrell under the influence of alcohol and possibly unspecified drugs when she was behind the wheel of a Hyundai Sonata on Essington Road, but she also had no driver’s license, the complaint said.

Terrell used the Sonata as a “deadly weapon” when she drove into the other woman, according to the complaint.

A grand jury returned an indictment against Terrell in September.
