BNSF officials said it could take an hour or longer to get the train moving again.
JOLIET, IL — A dump that drove around the gates was clipped by a train at the Patterson Road crossing, then drove away, according to officials at the scene Friday afternoon.
The incident happened before 1 p.m. in the Preston Heights area of unincorporated Joliet. The train immediately came to a halt following the crash, shutting Patterson Road in both directions and creating traffic congestion.
The Brandon Road railroad crossing was also blocked.
