Eden's Bar Shooting Solved By Joliet Police, Arrest Made: English
After the March 11, 2023, shooting in the 900 block of Gardner Street, Joliet Police detectives identified Barber as a suspect.

JOLIET — The Joliet Police Department issued a press release on Monday morning to alert the community that 31-year-old Joliet citizen Jerell Barber is now in the Will County Jail in connection with the shooting of a 36-year-old bar patron from two years ago at the Eden's Bar & Grill at 926 Gardner St.
Barber is being detained on charges of aggravated discharge of a firearm and two counts of unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon. Barber comes from the 600 block of Grant Street, on the east side.
Joliet police announced that "while conducting an extensive investigation into the March 11, 2023, shooting that occurred in the 900 block of Gardner Street, Joliet Police detectives identified Barber as a suspect involved in this shooting."

On Feb. 11, the detectives obtained an arrest warrant and Barber was taken into custody by members of the U.S. Marshals Great Lakes Fugitive Task Force on Feb. 21.
According to Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English, at 2:41 a.m. March 11, 2023, officers responded to Eden’s Bar and Grill after overhearing multiple rounds of gunfire in the area.

The officers located a 36-year-old woman in the bar with a gunshot wound to her leg.
Multiple rounds were fired at the business from the outside, striking the victim while inside the bar. Officers conducted an extensive canvas of the area. The shooting victim was taken to St. Joseph Medical Center by the Joliet Fire Department with non-life-threatening injuries.
