JOLIET, IL — The Joliet Police Department informed Patch that 36-year-old Lockport resident Martell Jones is being held accountable for Wednesday afternoon's crash with an electric scooter that sent the 26-year-old Joliet driver to St. Joe's hospital.

Police spokesman Dwayne English said that at 3:44 p.m., officers responded to McDonough Street and South Joliet Street for the crash. According to English, a preliminary investigation showed that a Dodge Nitro driven by Martell Jones was southbound on South Joliet Street when it stopped at the stop sign at McDonough Street. Police believe that as the Dodge proceeded into the intersection, it collided with an electric scooter being driven by a 26-year-old Joliet man who was westbound on McDonough Street at South Joliet Street.

The man driving the electric scooter was taken by ambulance to the St. Joseph Medical Center by the Joliet Fire Department with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
