JOLIET, IL — The Joliet West High School varsity football team is forfeiting its next two games and Joliet Central High School is forfeiting Friday night's game. School officials announced that the cancelled games are related to the coronavirus.

Friday's Joliet West away varsity football game against Plainfield North and the Friday, September 17 varsity homecoming game against West Aurora will not be played, Joliet West school officials posted on the school website Thursday.

"These cancellations are result of a directive from the Will County Health Department. Due to the high transmission rate in the varsity football program, the test to stay protocol cannot be utilized for varsity football participation at this time," District 204 announced. "Varsity football team members may utilize 'the test to stay in school' protocol for regular school attendance.
