Godley Cocaine Dealer Had Scales, Baggies For Packaging: Prosecutors
With only 650 citizens, it's rare for anyone to be arrested in Godley, but Joliet police captured Dewayne Williams during a drug raid.

JOLIET — For the third year in a row, 48-year-old Dewayne Williams, who now hails from the tiny Will County community of Godley, finds himself locked up in the Will County Jail and this time, Will County Judge Derek Ewanic has imposed the SAFE-T-Act to keep Williams detained for an indefinite period of time.
Will County Jail records indicate that Joliet police made the arrest last week, on March 18. Wiliams is being charged with unlawful manufacture or delivery of controlled substances and unlawful possession of a controlled substance.
According to the Will County prosecution's successful petition to deny pretrial release, the police raided Williams' house in the 600 block of East Rose Lane in Godley, the town of only 650 people along old Historic Route 66, between Braidwood and Gardner.

Prosecutors also informed Judge Ewanic that Williams was sentenced to four years of prison in Will County for a 1996 violent crime of aggravated discharge of a gun. He also had an eight-year prison term in Will County for a 2005 drug crime.
He was just put on probation on March 6 for a 2023 crime involving possession of controlled substances.
"He has a history of failing to appear in court," the prosecution's petition revealed. "He failed to appear in Grundy County on Jan. 7, 2023, for his traffic case, on Nov. 22, 2021, in Will County for his traffic case and on April 2, 2019, in Cook County for his traffic case and on June 28, 2018 in Cook County for his traffic case. He has a history involving drugs, firearms and failing to appear making him a danger and flight risk."
