Gun Discharged By Joliet Man During Domestic On Third Ave: Police
At about 1:30 a.m., Joliet police officers responded to a residence in the 500 block of Third Avenue for a report of a domestic battery.

JOLIET — A 50-year-old Joliet man, Alastair Williams, is now in the Will County Jail facing charges of aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon, aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon, aggravated domestic battery and domestic battery.
Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English said that around 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday, officers responded to a house in the 500 block of Third Avenue for a domestic.
The victim alleged that Williams had choked her, and officers saw evidence of a shooting inside the home and learned that a gun was discharged during the incident, striking a cell phone, English said.

Officers encountered Williams in front of the house, and he was taken into custody without incident. Williams did not have the gun at the time of his arrest, police said. There was no complaint of injuries from this incident. Officers and detectives completed a canvass of the area following the incident.
Later in the morning at 8 a.m., Joliet Police Detectives executed a search warrant at the Third Avenue residence. Two guns and ammunition were recovered, police said. The discharge of the firearm remains under investigation at this time, according to English.
