Our summer-like weather spurt has given way to rain and cool, gusty winds as a strong cold front pushes southeast across the area this morning. Most of the rain showers are expected to end by 1 p.m.

Gusty north-northeast winds will make for breezy conditions across the area, and will produce large waves of 10 feet or higher on Lake Michigan, according to the National Weather Service, which could produce minor lakeshore flooding to parts of the Illinois and Indiana shores through tonight.
Cool and dry weather will persist through the week into next weekend.
