I-80 Overnight Lane Closures Starting Next Week

JOLIET, IL — Overnight lane closings on Interstate 80 are scheduled to start Tuesday.

I-80 will be closed from the Grundy County line to Larkin Avenue during the road improvement project.

"In order to complete the work, nighttime lane closures will take place on Interstate 80 in both directions with temporary traffic control signs through the work zone," the Illinois Department of Transportation said in a statement.

"The project consists of cleaning and sealing cracks in the pavement, as well as placement of new pavement markings," IDOT said.

The project is expected to be finished some time in the summer.
