'It’s Going To Be, Like, Totally Awesome': Downtown Joliet Party

JOLIET — Break out the leg warmers, dust off those mixtapes, and tease that hair to the sky because Downtown Joliet is turning back time to the raddest decade of all! On Saturday, May 3, 2025, the Joliet City Center Partnership (CCP) is hosting a totally tubular 1980s throwback celebration that promises an evening of retro fun, and nostalgic vibes.

The event is free to attend and will take place throughout Downtown Joliet. Downtown businesses will be embracing the 80s spirit with themed specials, photo ops, and interactive activities that bring the decade to life. Throughout the day, visitors can enjoy live music, DJs spinning all their favorite 80s hits, catch screenings of classic movies, and snap selfies at retro-inspired photo stations. Don’t forget to throw on your best neon outfit, rock that side ponytail, or channel your inner rocker or Valley Girl. There will also be exclusive food and drink specials, retail deals, and fun surprises at every turn. The South Shore Ghostbuster will even be there protecting the good people of Joliet.

“This is going to be a blast from the past in the best way possible,” said Vicki Sanchez, Interim Executive Director of CCP. “We’re thrilled to bring this kind of playful energy downtown while supporting local businesses and giving our community something fun to rally around.”
