JOLIET — It's not uncommon for the Joliet Police Department to respond to several shootings in a given year on the east side's Youngs Avenue.
The first shooting of 2025 on Youngs Avenue happened 18 days into the new year.
Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English said the shooter got away.

Back in September, Joliet Patch reported that the Joliet Police Department remained busy over Labor Day weekend and one of the many shooting locations that officers tried to investigate happened to be on the city's east side, an area that has been the site of numerous shootings over the years: Youngs Avenue.
At 3:53 a.m. during the first Saturday in September, officers responded to the 300 block of Youngs Avenue for shots fired. At the crime scene, the officers discovered more than 20 spent shell casings in front of a house. Officers saw gunfire damage to the house but were unable to determine if the damage was new or old as the occupants of the home refused to cooperate.
This time, English wanted everyone to know this is an active investigation in its early stages as Joliet Police Detectives work to identify a suspect or suspects. Anyone with information related to this incident are encouraged to contact the Joliet Police Department Investigation Unit at 815-724-3020. They can also contact Will County Crime Stoppers at 800-323-6734 or online if they wish to remain anonymous.
