Joliet Man Faces Aggravated DUI Charges After Crash: Police

Police say Lemelvine Jackson-Counsell, 26, had a blood-alcohol concentration limit of more than .08 when after he was involved a crash.

JOLIET, IL — A 26-year-old Joliet man faces aggravated drunk driving charges after he was arrested after police said he hit another vehicle in a crash on Tuesday evening, police said.

Police said that Lemelvine Jackson-Counsell had a blood-alcohol concentration level of more than .08, which is the legal limit in Illinois, when he was arrested after the crash at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday night.

Jackson-Counsell was at the intersection of West Jefferson and Larkin Avenue when he collided with another vehicle that was turning left on West Jefferson, police said. No one was injured in the crash.

Police said that Jackson-Counsell showed signs of possible alcohol impairment while speaking with police. He completed field sobriety tests and was taken into custody. He was also cited for driving a vehicle without insurance, driving a vehicle without a license plate, and for failing to reduce his speed to avoid an accident, police said.

He was taken to the Will County Jail and his vehicle was towed, police said.
