Joliet Mayor To Fill 'Duck' Dickinson's Vacated Seat: Report
Don "Duck" Dickinson submitted a formal resignation on Monday, sources report.

JOLIET, IL — Former Joliet city councilor Don "Duck" Dickinson formally resigned on Monday, The Herald News reports. Mayor Bob O'Dekirk is now set to instate an appointment to fill the vacant seat in a meeting next week.
The city's code requires the mayor to appoint a person to fill a seat within 60 days of the seat becoming vacant. The appointee is then approved by the city council, according to the report.
O'Dekirk told the publication he is unlikely to choose an appointee from the pool of some 20 people who have already taken out petitions to run for three open at-large seats on the council.

It's unclear who O'Dekirk plans to appoint.
Dickson, an at-large councilman, was elected four years ago and in August said he would not seek re-election next April.

Earlier this month, Dickinson filed a police report accusing Joliet Mayor Bob O'Dekirk blackmail over nude photos he said he had sent. O'Dekirk has denied Dickinson's allegations and accused him of filing a false police report.
