Joliet McDonald's Destroyed As Car Plows Into Dining Room: Photos
Joliet police have closed down West Jefferson Street.

JOLIET — The Joliet Police Department has closed down West Jefferson Street from the airport to to the frontage road at Interstate 55 because a motorist veered off Jefferson Street and crashed through the dining room of the McDonald's restaurant on U.S. 52 on Tuesday night.
Joliet police said the motorist was rushed to St. Joe's hospital and investigators suspected that the driver may have had a medical emergency, causing them to veer off the road and straight into the McDonald's, which is near the I-55 exit for Joliet and Shorewood.
Nobody inside the McDonald's restaurant was hurt. The crash happened around 4:30 p.m. and the McDonald's has been forced to shut down, including the drive-thru windows.

Meanwhile, there was already a McDonald's semi-trailer making a food delivery at the Joliet fast-food restaurant as the Joliet police had a heavy police presence around the perimeter of the property. Joliet police said that the restaurant would remain closed to customers for an indefinite period and that McDonald's had already notified adjusters to board up the restaurant.
