At 11:17 p.m., an officer on patrol in the parking lot of Double J Sports Bar at 1001 Essington Road watched Zamudio being escorted out of the bar by their security.
Zamudio appeared to be intoxicated as he was arguing with bar security and refusing to leave the premises. When the officer intervened to encourage Zamudio to walk away from the situation, Zamudio grew angry and kept approaching the officer, despite warnings to step back.

At one point the officer extended their arm to keep Zamudio back at which time Zamudio smacked the officer’s arm away from him. Zamudio continued to yell at the officer and bar security and refused to leave. Zamudio again approached the officer with an aggressive posture and the officer pushed Zamudio back to stop his advance, causing him to fall to the ground.
Zamudio was placed into custody without further incident. Zamudio refused to cooperate with booking procedures at the Joliet Police Department and was released on a notice to appear. The Joliet Police Department was not able to take a mugshot of Zamudio, according to English.
