An officer tried to stop a Chevrolet Monte Carlo near Hickory Street and Western Avenue for a registration violation.

JOLIET, IL — The Joliet Police Department announced that one of its late-night arrests this past weekend involved 37-year-old Joliet resident Corey Travis on charges of aggravated battery to a peace officer, fleeing the police and obstructing a peace officer.
According to the arrest reports, the Joliet police also tried to use a taser on Travis.
Police spokesman Dwayne English said that at 10:21 p.m. on Friday, an officer tried to stop a Chevrolet Monte Carlo near Hickory Street and Western Avenue for a registration violation. The vehicle accelerated away but then backed into a driveway in the 300 block of Center Street. The driver, identified as Travis, exited and walked toward a house, ignoring commands and cursing at the officer, English noted.
