Joliet Senior Puts Gun To Woman After Choking Her: Police

Joliet police said the officers recovered the loaded handgun that was used by 68-year-old Edgar Polk during the incident.

JOLIET — For the second time since July, 68-year-old Joliet resident Edgar Polk finds himself in the Will County Jail. This time, Joliet police had Polk arrested on charges of aggravated domestic battery, aggravated assault, aggravated unlawful restraint, unlawful restraint and unlawful possession of a gun by a felon.

According to Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English, at 5:17 p.m., officers responded to an apartment in the 500 block of South Eastern Avenue for a domestic disturbance.

According to English, officers learned that Polk grew angry at the woman as she tried to leave his apartment, at which time it they believe Polk grabbed the victim by her shirt and threw her to the ground.

Polk allegedly then got on top of the victim while she was on the ground and began to choke her, police allege.

According to English, Polk then retrieved a handgun from under a nearby mattress and pointed it at the victim.

Polk was present at the home and was placed into custody without incident. Officers recovered the loaded handgun they believe was used by Polk during the incident.
