Knife Incident At Lois Place Apartments Leads To Joliet Police Arrest

JOLIET — A 36-year-old former Chicago resident who now calls Joliet home was arrested on New Year's Day night following a knife incident at the Lois Place apartments, according to Joliet police arrest reports.

The police noted that Justin Murph was booked into the Will County Jail just before 11:30 p.m. Wednesday on charges of unlawful restraint, domestic battery and aggravated assault.

Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English said at 8:38 p.m. Jan. 1, officers responded to an apartment in the 900 block of Lois Place for a domestic disturbance and learned that a woman was attacked by Murph.

According to police, while in the apartment, Murph indicated to the victim that he wanted to end the relationship and grew upset at the victim, telling her to leave. As the victim packed items for herself and her children, police say they believe that Murph grabbed a knife and yelled for her to hurry up.

According to police, the victim was then pushed onto a chair by Murph, who stood in front of the door and would not allow the victim to leave.

Murph is accused of pushing the victim onto a nearby couch. The victim and children were then able to leave the apartment, police said. No injuries were reported.

Murph was placed into custody without incident.
