Mall Loop Drive Commotion: Another Arrest For Lockport's Smith
Joliet police officers met with the caller who advised there was a commotion in one of the hotel rooms.

JOLIET — For the second time in the past month, the Joliet Police Department has made an arrest of 33-year-old Lockport resident Enriqueta T. Smith. The latest incident resulted in charges of aggravated assault to a police officer. Smith was booked into the Will County Jail because she had a failure to appear in Will County Court on her other charges of aggravated assault to a police officer from her November arrest.
According to Joliet police spokesman Tizoc Landeros, the following events resulted in Smith's arrest early Sunday morning:
At about 1:30 am, the officers responded to the 3500 block of Mall Loop Drive regarding a disturbance. Officers met with the caller who advised there was a commotion in one of the hotel rooms. A person, later identified as Smith, was in the hotel room. The officers knew Smith had an failure to appear Will County warrant and was taken into custody.

While Smith was in custody and sitting in the officer’s squad car, she made self-harming statements. The Joliet Fire Department Paramedics responded to the scene. As Smith was being placed on the gurney, she tried to bite the officers and paramedics several times. Smith was transported to a local hospital where she was treated and released.
Smith was then transported to the Joliet Police booking area where she was processed and released for the new Aggravated Assault charges. Smith was also processed and taken to the jail or the failure to appear warrant without further incident.
