Mercedes Crashes Into Barbershop: Joliet Police

The barbershop was briefly closed but reopened Wednesday, the business confirmed.

JOLIET, IL — A vehicle crashed into a barbershop after a collision Tuesday on Joliet’s far West Side, according to police.

Officers responded shortly after 9:30 a.m. to the 2400 block of Caton Farm Road after a Mercedes-Benz driven by 81-year-old Anthony De Angelis of Plainfield struck The Commission Barber Co., police said.

De Angelis was traveling north on Essington Road and turned left onto westbound Caton Farm Road, colliding with a Toyota Camry that was heading west on Caton Farm Road after turning from southbound Essington Road, according to police, who said De Angelis continued into the parking lot and business.

The barbershop was briefly closed but reopened Wednesday, the business confirmed.

No one was hurt, according to police, who said De Angelis was cited for improper lane use, failure to yield and failure to reduce speed.
