Mobile Home Fire: Joliet Resident Loses Their Dwelling During Blaze

JOLIET — A Joliet resident is now without a place to live after their mobile home was destroyed early Monday evening during a fire.

Joliet Fire Battalion Chief James Ryan said that at 4:52 p.m., the Joliet Fire Department responded to 1633 Sandy Drive for a structure fire. The first units arrived within three minutes of the call. The crews found a mobile home fire. The resident was alerted by working smoke detectors and exited the building.

The mobile home community is on the far east side of Joliet, off East Cass Street and Route 30.

Responding crews were able to extinguish the fire but home is uninhabitable. The scene was declared under control at 5:30 p.m.

Fire crews from Station 4, 5, 6 ,1 and 8 were on scene. The fire is currently under investigation, Ryan noted.
